Student Pick-Up & Walking Safety Procedures

At 82nd Street Academics, student safety is our highest priority. We are committed to maintaining clear, consistent procedures that ensure safe dismissal, supervised walking routes, and secure transitions across all of our partner school sites.

Our Commitment to Safety & Regulatory Compliance
82nd Street Academics operates in accordance with regulations established by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), which requires a staff-to-student ratio of 1:10 for school-age programs.
During walking transitions, we implement an enhanced supervision ratio of approximately 1:8 to provide additional oversight and ensure safe movement between program locations.
All dismissal and transition procedures follow standardized safety protocols designed to support supervision, accountability, and clear communication.

Ongoing Staff Training
During school breaks and throughout the year, our staff participate in professional development focused on:
-
Emergency preparedness
-
First aid and medical emergency response
-
Evacuation and relocation planning
-
Fire and safety drill review
-
Reinforcement of dismissal and transition procedures
We continuously review and refine our practices to ensure the highest level of safety for students.
